New Design for Planters

Having paid us a visit and liked what they saw, Plantscape, who sell street furniture, asked us to take over production of their planters. We took their existing tooling and did some work on it to sharpen up the end product and we started production.

After a year, Plantscape asked us to design some new planters so the company could extend its range. We were also asked to consider how we could manufacture a tower feature ( i.e. a number of planters, one above another on a central pole) that would water itself. Well, we like an engineering design challenge, especially as there was nothing like this on the market at the time. After a process of designs and drawings, we came up with a new concept that involved water being poured in at the top only, and a pipe and overflow system ensuring all other planetrs were fully watered. Our client was delighted and has moved all all his rotational moulding business to Gordon Ellis & Co.

Defying the Vandals

When vandals started removing tee markers, normally metal or wood, from tees on golf courses and throwing them in the lakes, Tacit Golf came to Gordon Ellis & Co asking if it were possible to make tee markers both durable and buoyant. We developed a brand new design and produced a range of vandal resistant markers which have proved so successful for Tacit Golf'

Improving Motorcycle Safety

Improving Motorcycle Safety
Manufacturers of rugged off-road motorcycles, CCM, are extremely safety-conscious. We were already working with them, producing the fuel tanks for their bikes in cross-linkable silver and yellow but they wanted to step ahead of the other manufacturers and make their tanks even stronger.

Nylon would have been ideal but it wasn't appropriate because it would crack under heavy impact. Our engineers developed a 2-skin process: nylon on the outside for strength and to provide a good paint finish, and plastimer foam on the inside, a high impact inner skin to prevent petrol leakage. This unique development in association with CCM is already seen on their (and only their) bikes.
